We had two camps in July 2022: Samson Summer Session Two, which covered animals living in Africa and in desert environments, and Up Up & Away Goes to Africa.
In Samson Summer Session Two, we learned about elephants, zebras, anteaters, giraffes, and lions. Desert animals included rattlesnakes, chuckwallas, camels, vultures, and coyotes. We also learned about Tuareg culture, Ndebele decorated houses, and cactus.
In Up Up & Away Goes to Africa we went to Egypt, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, and Morocco. For every country, we learned greetings and how to count to ten in the native language.
We also learned about the music, food, and art of each country. We learned about the immense diversity of language, religion, history, and culture in one of the world’s largest continents.
