The month of September was packed with new information! We learned about the Spanish Inquisition as well as the events that led to the birth of the Protestant Church. We learned about Henry VIII’s petition for a divorce and about the 95 Theses of Martin Luther.

We learned about the differences between southern and northern Renaissance artists, studying Titian, Raphael, Brueghel, and Holbein.

We also studied Bosch’s Garden of Earthly Delights, creating our own works of art using foreground, middle ground, and background images.

As part of our study of artist of the month Albrecht Durer, students drew self portraits. We also learned about Leonardo da Vinci, creating our own Mona Lisa – where Mona Lisa is a cat!

We continued our intensive study of the digestive system. Work in our garden resumed with the harvesting of sweet peppers, long beans, okra, and eggplants.
