This month we continued our study of the Renaissance. We learned about scientific advances in our understanding of the human body and the workings of the universe undertaken by Copernicus, Vesalius, and Tycho Brahe. We also learned about map making and the differences between the Mercator map and the Peters (which is the one Samson uses).
We also learned about Queen Elizabeth I, the Spanish Armada, and Sir Francis Drake.
We did several compare/contrast exercises including Machiavelli vs Sir Thomas Moore and Catholicism vs. Protestantism (as part of learning about the Reformation).
We continued work in our community garden and learned how to use a candy thermometer by making cherry jam and salted apple cider caramels. Yum!
Learning is delicious at Samson Academy!
