A new year and a new semester!
This month we started a unit on Reconstruction, the period following the American Civil War.
We learned about the Freedman’s Bureau, sharecropping, Jim Crow, the KKK, and the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments to our Constitution.
We also learned about the Westward Expansion and the treatment of Native Americans.
In addition, we learned about the Second Industrial Revolution, making a lap book of the inventions and discoveries that changed the world.
In art, we began a unit on color value. In art history, we began a unit on Claude Monet. In French, we learned the names of articles of clothing. Our topic in citizenship and personal development was “self-control.”
